UAE economy growth banking assets hit $1.49tn surge

The UAE economy growth banking sector drives early 2026 momentum.

Total assets reached AED5.472 trillion ($1.49 trillion) in February. Foreign trade reached AED6 trillion ($1.63 trillion) as the full-year 2025 figure.

Banking Sector Powers Ahead

The Central Bank of the UAE reports strong figures. Assets rose 1.1 per cent to AED5.472 trillion from AED5.414 trillion in January. Credit grew 1.2 per cent to AED2.63 trillion ($716 billion). Domestic credit added AED20.6 billion.

Deposits climbed 1.9 per cent to AED3.4 trillion ($926 billion). Resident deposits increased 1.7 per cent to AED3.098 trillion ($844 billion). These gains show deep liquidity. Confidence holds firm.

The sector leads regionally. Assets top AED5.4 trillion with 17.9 per cent credit growth and 16.2 per cent deposit rises. Solvency stays high. Banks meet demand in a busy market.

Business registrations passed 1.45 million by late February. This supports expansion. The UAE draws firms amid uncertainties.

Trade Diversification Fuels Expansion

Total foreign trade rose 15 per cent to AED6 trillion ($1.63 trillion) in 2025. Services trade topped AED1.14 trillion ($310 billion) for the first time. Non-oil merchandise jumped 27 per cent to AED3.8 trillion ($1.03 trillion).

Non-oil goods trade grew 24.6 per cent in 2025 to AED2.53 trillion. Exports rose 45 per cent. Re-exports gained 13 per cent. Imports increased 22.3 per cent. CEPAs boost these links.

GDP grew 5.6 per cent in 2025. Forecasts hold at 5.6 per cent for 2026. Trade cuts oil reliance. Global ties deepen.

Investors eye steady returns. Banking strength offers safe yields. Trade growth signals export plays. The UAE cements its hub status. Funds flow to diversified assets. Regional leaders watch closely.
